A second long-term care facility in Barton County was added to the state’s list of COVID-19 cluster exposure locations this week, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Medicalodges Great Bend was added to the weekly list on Sept. 30. The facility has had six cases in the last 14 days. The last onset date of a positive case was Sept. 26, KDHE reports.
Azria Health Woodhaven, a long-term care facility in Ellinwood, remained on the list for the second week, with 27 cases in the last 14 days. The last onset date at Woodhaven was Sept. 24.
Area correctional facilities were also on the cluster list. Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility has had 79 cases within the last 14 days, with the last onset date on Sept. 24. Ellsworth Correctional Facility has had 18, with the latest on Sept. 25. In Reno County, Hutchinson Correctional Facility has had 85 cases recently, the latest starting on Sept. 27.
As of 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, Kansas has had 59,749 cases, 2,917 hospitalizations and 678 deaths. There were 1,120 new cases and 41 new deaths reported since Monday, Sept. 28.
KDHE also shows that another Barton County resident has been hospitalized with COVID-19. A total of 26 hospitalizations have been reported into the database. There have been eight intensive care unit admissions, four patients placed on mechanical ventilation, and 15 patients known to have been discharged.
The breakdown for Barton County patients by age is: 45-54 years, three; 55-64 years, eight; 65-74 years, three; and 85 years of age or older, five.
