Barton County releases new COVID-19 report on Dec. 8

Barton County Administrator Phil Hathcock reported Tuesday evening that there have been 68 new COVID-19 cases in the county since last Friday, Dec. 4.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the county has had 1,769 positive cases and 196 of those were still active. The number of COVID-19-related deaths to date was unchanged at 13.

The county has issued 5,960 quarantine or isolation orders this year and 312 of those were active Friday.

Of the new cases, one resides in Claflin, three in Ellinwood, 40 in Great Bend, one in Hoisington, one in Olmitz, one in Pawnee Rock and 21 in rural Barton County.

The location and number of positive cases, followed by the number of current active cases, follows:

Albert 1 - 0

Claflin 60 - 5

Ellinwood 175 - 11

Great Bend 1,068 - 133

Hoisington 153 - 12

Olmitz 11 - 0

Pawnee Rock 14 - 3

Rural Barton County 287 - 32.

These numbers are still lagging behind the numbers reported by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, which reported Barton County has had 1,818 positive cases.
