Barton County saw 31 new COVID-19 cases between 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, Barton County Public Information Officer Donna Zimmerman reported.
The new cases were made up of 16 males and 15 females; three reside in Ellinwood, 22 in Great Bend, four in Hoisington and two in rural Barton County.
To date, the county has confirmed 567 positive cases (234 males and 333 females) and seven related deaths. The number of active positive cases on Tuesday was 82, a decrease of 85 from Friday. The county has issued 3,400 quarantine or isolation orders and 464 of those are active, down from 755 on Friday.

Kansas Department of Health and Environment updated its COVID-19 statistics at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5. There have been 62,708 cases statewide, resulting in 3,036 hospitalizations and 706 deaths. There were 1,597 new cases and eight new deaths reported since Friday, Oct. 2.
Kansas has had 478,398 negative tests.
In Barton County, KDHE reports 28 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized this year. Eight were admitted to the intensive care unit and four were placed on mechanical ventilation. Seventeen patients have been discharged. The data only includes cases with available discharge information reported to KDHE.

Great Bend USD 428 reports it received the following notifications on Saturday, Oct. 3:
• Student at Lincoln Elementary tested positive, no additional quarantines.
• Student at Lincoln Elementary tested positive, no additional quarantines.
• Two students, siblings, at Lincoln Elementary tested positive, resulting in 11 student quarantines.
• Staff member at Lincoln Elementary tested positive, three additional staff and 22 students expected to receive quarantine notices based on close contact.
• Student at Great Bend High School tested positive, seven additional students expected to receive quarantine orders based on close contact.
USD 428 reports two notifications were received on Tuesday, Oct. 6:
• Student at Lincoln Elementary tested positive, eight additional students expected to receive quarantine orders for close contact.
• Student at Eisenhower Elementary tested positive, nine additional students expected to receive quarantine orders for close contact.
