Barton, Pawnee counties see new COVID-19 cases

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports that as of Wednesday, 1,764,347 Kansans – 37% of the total population – have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 685,858 have received a second dose.

As of Wednesday, there have been 306,883 COVID-19 cases statewide, resulting in 9,997 hospitalizations and 4,961 deaths. There were 593 new cases, six new deaths and 36 new hospitalizations reported since Monday.

Here are KDHE’s total COVID-19 cases and probable cases for area counties on Wednesday, followed by total deaths. There have been no new deaths reported in these counties.

• Pawnee 1,156 (+7) - 13

Every Wednesday, KDHE releases the names of locations that have five or more cases with symptom-onset dates in the last 14 days. There were no area exposure locations this week, but the number of locations increased overall. There were three long-term care facilities; three private businesses, including Portfolio Recovery Associates in Hutchinson, with six cases; and a religious gathering at The Fathers House in Hutchinson, with eight cases in the last 14 days.
