Brookdale, GBI added to COVID-19 cluster report
Stafford County admits child to hospital; Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties each report one new death

Great Bend High School, the Barton County Road & Bridge Department and Stafford USD 349 were all listed as COVID-19 exposure locations for the second consecutive week on Wednesday. Brookdale Great Bend and Great Bend Industries also made the list this week.

Every Wednesday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment publishes the locations that have five or more COVID-19 cases with symptom onset in the last 14 days.

• Barton County Road & Bridge has had five cases within the last 14 days; the last onset date was Nov. 8.

• The Brookdale long-term care facility has had 6 cases; the last onset date was Nov. 10.

• Great Bend Industries, a private business, has had 8 cases; the last onset date was Nov. 7.

• GBHS has had 9; the last onset date was Nov. 11.

• Stafford USD 349 has had 19; the last onset date was Nov. 15.

Pawnee Heights USD 496 was not on the list but had multiple absences on Tuesday, Nov. 16, and has canceled classes until Nov. 29, essentially taking an extended Thanksgiving break.


Great Bend USD 428 

Great Bend USD 428 on Tuesday issued its weekly update of COVID-19 cases in the school district. There were 20 active cases and so far this semester the district has had 186 other cases that are resolved. Here are the total active and resolved cases (for the semester) by building as of 1 p.m. Tuesday, with changes from Nov. 8:

Statewide

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Kansas has had 452,909 COVID-19 cases over the course of the pandemic, resulting in 15,388 hospitalizations and 6,634 statewide deaths. There were 3,096 new cases, 82 new hospitalizations and 20 new deaths reported since Monday, Nov. 15. Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties each reported one new death.

Hospitalizations as of Wednesday

Barton County has reported 141 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, an increase of two since last Friday. The number of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions remained unchanged at 30. The number of discharged patients reported to KDHE is 95, up two from Nov. 12. The median age of Barton County patients admitted so far this month is 52.

Pawnee County has reported 66 hospital admissions (an increase of one) and 14 ICU admissions to date (no change), and 47 discharged patients (an increase of one). The median age of Pawnee County patients admitted so far this month is 42.

12-year-old patient hospitalized in Stafford County

Stafford County has reported 26 hospitalizations, 10 ICU admissions and 17 discharged patients. The only change from last week is that total hospitalizations were adjusted downward from a previous report of 27. That means there has been one hospital admission this month and the median age of Stafford County patients admitted so far this month is 12.
