There were 7,346 new cases and -4 deaths reported since Wednesday, July 6. The net negative change in deaths is due to staff reviewing deaths that did not pass Office of Vital Statistics verification.

To date, 1,995,427 Kansans – 63.5% of the population – have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

High or substantial case rates

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment also provides a weekly cumulative incidence rate (also called the weekly new case rate) for the period starting July 2 and ending July 8. The most recent five days are not included as data is expected to be incomplete.

For this period, all area counties were rated as “high” transmission counties, with 100 or more new cases per 100,000 people, or as “substantial” transmission counties, with 50-99 cases per 100,000. All but eight of the 105 Kansas counties had a high or substantial rating. For area counties:

• Barton 35 cases - high

• Ellsworth 19 cases - high

• Pawnee 14 cases - high

• Rice 23 cases - high

• Rush 3 cases - substantial
