The City of Great Bend announced Friday that state health officials have multiple positive cases of COVID-19 involving officers in the Great Bend Police Department. Individuals who have had contact with law enforcement beginning Friday September 4 through Wednesday September 9 may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

According to a statement from Community Coordinator Christina Hayes, the City of Great Bend encourages those who were in contact with GBPD officers during the identified days to monitor themselves for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days. Symptoms include fever, cough, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, fatigue, diarrhea, and/or shortness of breath/difficulty breathing. If symptoms develop, please stay home and contact your health care provider for guidance on testing. In an emergency, please call 911 and notify first responders that you were potentially exposed to COVID-19 and, if possible, wear a face mask before they arrive

“We will continue to keep you informed and citizens as safe as possible as we serve the community,” the news release stated. For more information and updates from the city visit the website https://www.greatbendks.net/75/Public-Information.
