Great Bend public library remaining closed to public
The Book Nook

Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library, here at the library we have been closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19. Many of you may know we have been closed this past week to help stop the spread of the pandemic. As a thriving community hub with events for all ages, we believe it is in our community’s best interest to close the library and cancel all library-sponsored events again this week. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 updates and will make a decision about when we will reopen. We will do the same for scheduled upcoming events.

We’re in communication with the City of Great Bend and the Barton County Health Department and will make future decisions based on their recommendations. Right now it is recommended that if you’re immunocompromised, or sick, to stay home.

If you want to stay up-to-date we recommend trusted sources that offer factual information like, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC]. WHO will provide information as it becomes available, in addition to updated guidance. Barton County Public Health has regularly updated information, as well as a toll free number to call for more information. The most important thing to do at this time is to wash your hands often and avoid close contact with people who are sick, and remember to share facts and not fear.

We would also like to remind patrons that even though we are closed you can still use the library. Our digital library has free eBooks, audiobooks, streaming movies, and more. Hoopla and Libby are both free with your Great Bend Library card. Please Email us if you have questions at gbcirc@gmail.com, or message us on Facebook. We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during this time.

Hannah Grippin is the outreach and marketing manager for the Great Bend Public Library. She can be reached by email at gbcirc@gmail.com.
