Health Dept. announces Hoisington COVID-19 testing drive-thru

HOISINGTON — The Barton County Health Department will offer drive-thru COVID-19 testing from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, August 13, at the American Family Insurance parking lot, located at 302 N. Main Street in Hoisington. Look for the Public Health Mobile Unit.

Due to the increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the community, the Barton County Health Department with support of and in collaboration with the City of Hoisington and Clara Barton Hospital, is providing an additional access point for specimen collection. Only individuals with signs and symptoms of COVID-19 will be tested. After collection, specimens will be tested at the Kansas Health and Environmental Lab.

Results will be available in approximately 72 hours. The Barton County Health Department will contact those who receive tests with their results. There is no charge for this service.

Signs and symptoms can include but are not limited to:

• Fever

• Chills

• Headache

• Sore Throat

• Cough

• Shortness of Breath

• Difficulty Breathing

• New Olfactory and Taste Disorders

• Nausea or Vomiting

• Diarrhea

Call the Barton County Health Department, 620-793-1902, to make appointments and to provide information so that paperwork can be completed prior to arrival. Those presenting without appointments will be tested as time permits.
