Most of Kansas, including all area counties in the Golden Belt, continue to record a high weekly new case rate for COVID-19, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
The ranking of “high” is based on 100 or more new cases per 100,000 people for the period starting Aug. 13 and ending Aug. 19. The most recent five days are not included as data is expected to be incomplete.
Here are the new case totals for area counties:
• Barton 30
• Ellsworth 16
• Pawnee 10
• Rice 21
• Rush 5
• Russell 12
• Stafford 8
As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, there were 5,075 new cases and 11 new deaths reported since the previous Wednesday, Aug. 17.
