Kansans continue to get COVID-19 vaccine

As of Wednesday, 1,110,043 Kansans – 38.1% of the total population – had received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 762,439 had received a second dose.

Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports there have been 308,510 cases, resulting in 10,151 hospitalizations and 4,978 deaths over the duration of the pandemic. There were 645 new cases, eight new deaths and 55 new hospitalizations reported since Monday, April 26.

On Wednesdays, KDHE releases the names of locations that have five or more cases with symptom-onset dates in the last 14 days. This week’s cluster report showed three locations: Holiday Resort Health & Rehab of Salina with 15 cases, Spirit AeroSystems Building 2-280J in Wichita with eight cases, and Hillsboro High School with 11 cases.

Here are the total positive and probable cases of COVID-19 to date in area counties:

• Barton 2,604 (-1 since Monday)

• Ellsworth 1,220 (+1)

• Pawnee 1,165 (-1)

• Rice 1,072 (+2)

• Rush 431

• Russell 857

• Stafford 339 (+1)

There were no new deaths in these counties and no varients of SARS-CoV-2 have been found in any of those counties.
