Larned, Ellsworth locations stay on cluster list

There were fewer area locations on the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s COVID-19 cluster report this week, but correctional facilities in Larned and Ellsworth, as well as Larned State Hospital, were still listed.

Every Wednesday, KDHE publishes locations that have five or more COVID-19 cases with symptom onset in the last 14 days. Area locations were:

• Ellsworth Correctional Facility, 27 cases; Feb. 5 was the last onset date.

• Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility, 10 cases; Feb. 2 was the last onset date.

• Larned State Hospital, 30 cases; Feb. 3 was the last onset date.

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Kansas has had 752,974 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 18,754 hospitalizations and 7,820 statewide deaths. There were 4,454 new cases, 192 new hospitalizations and 92 new deaths reported since Monday.

Hospitalizations

The Great Bend Tribune also reports on COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties.

• As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Barton County has reported 171 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, including 32 intensive care unit (ICU) admissions to date, and 113 discharged patients reported to KDHE. This reflects one new hospitalization and one new discharge reported since Monday. The median age for patients admitted in February is 72.

• Pawnee County has reported 75 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 50 discharged patients to date. This includes one new admission and one new reported discharge since Monday. The median age for patients admitted in February is 62.

• Stafford County has reported 36 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 23 discharged patients to date. Admission numbers have not changed since Jan. 5.
