Kansas averaged 663 new COVID-19 cases a day for the week ending July 4, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
To date, there have been 812,329 cases resulting in 8,961 deaths statewide as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 6. That represents 5,395 new cases and nine new deaths reported since Wednesday, June 29.
Looking at the weekly cumulative incidence rate (also known as the weekly new case rate) starting June 25 and ending July 1, six of seven area counties showed a “high” rate, defined as 100 or more cases per 100,000 people, or a “substantial” rate, defined at 50-99 cases per 100,000 people. This measurement does not include more recent dates because that data is expected to be incomplete.

• Ellsworth - 8, high
• Pawnee - 13, high
• Rice - 19, high
• Rush - 3, substantial
• Russell - 2 moderate, 10-49 cases per 100,000
• Stafford - 5 high
