State adjusts number of COVID-19 cases
Friday's total for Ellsworth County drops by 10 cases

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment releases COVID-19 data every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. However, the release of data was delayed last Friday.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, Kansas has had 765,566 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 19,380 hospitalizations and 7,937 statewide deaths. There were 1,327 new cases, 82 new hospitalizations and seven new deaths reported since Wednesday,Feb. 23.


Area cases

Numbers for Ellsworth County were adjusted downward on Friday. Here are the area case totals as of 4 p.m. Friday, with any change since last Wednesday, as reported by KDHE:

• Barton 6,468 (+13) 

• Ellsworth 2,007 (-10)

• Pawnee 2,113 (+3)

• Rice 2,578 (+7)

• Rush 807 (+0)

• Russell 1,869 (+3)

• Stafford 1,129 (+1)


Area deaths

Here are the COVID-related death totals for area counties as of 4 p.m. Friday. There have been no new deaths reported since Feb. 16.

Hospitalizations

The Great Bend Tribune also reports on COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties. 

• As of 4 p.m. Friday, Barton County has reported 174 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, including 32 intensive care unit (ICU) admissions to date, and 114 discharged patients reported to KDHE. This reflects one new hospitalization since Wednesday. The median age for patients admitted in February is 72.

• Pawnee County has reported 76 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 50 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since Feb. 16. The median age for patients admitted in February is 62.

• Stafford County has reported 36 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 23 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since Jan. 5.
