The City of Great Bend announced Friday afternoon that a Wetlands Waterpark employee had secondary exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case while participating in a Mid America Youth Basketball tournament in Hays this past Sunday. However, the facility will continue normal operations.

That employee is being quarantined. However, the employee has not had contact with the waterpark or any of its employees since Monday.

Additionally, a second employee had contact on Tuesday with members of a team that also participated in that basketball tournament. The City of Great Bend adheres to Centers for Disease and Control guidelines, and does not allow an employee, who has had potential exposure, to return to work until they are 72-hour symptom free, without the aid of a fever reducer.

“The Wetlands Waterpark has maintained diligence of disinfecting and cleaning procedures at our facility,” said Public Lands Director Scott Keeler. “The procedure provides multiple rounds of disinfecting and cleaning throughout the hours of operation.”

It is very important that anyone with symptoms or that has been tested and not received a negative result of the COVID-19 test follow the instructions and warnings of the public health guidance and medical instructions to best help our community remain healthy, he said.

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact Keeler at 620-793-4111.
