ELLINWOOD — New fire fighting equipment and building replacement will highlight Tuesday night’s regular meeting of the Ellinwood City Council, starting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Ellinwood School/Community Library. The fire department’s south building and two department vehicles have been ruled a complete loss following a vehicle accident last month. The driver of a Chevy Silverado crashed into the building around 11:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The two remaining vehicles that were parked in the building are damaged but are operable. The city is still waiting on final insurance settlements on the trucks and is expected to have the actual amounts by Tuesday’s meeting. The building settlement has been completed. City staff will share with council the settlement amounts and options for the rebuilding of the station and replacement of the vehicles. Following this discussion, staff will ask council for direction to begin the replacement process.

In other business, the council will review two community housing proposals. The council will also continue discussion on the city’s proposed automated meter project. Jordan Waite from the Chamber of Commerce will be present to request permission for use of Wolf Park/Bandshell for the annual Christkindlmarket.
