Alpha Kappa Master selects Woman of the Year

Alpha Kappa Master Sorority met on May 13 at the home of Merlene Baird at 1 p.m. for a salad luncheon hosted by Baird, Connie Carlton and Wadonna King.

Guest Rosie Rein was welcomed to the meeting. A thank you was extended to Merlene Baird for chairing the annual Founder’s Day meeting on April 30 and Baird was voted Woman of the Year. 

Marcia King presented the Beta Book drill on sorority duties for the month of May. Thank you notes were read from Alice Clapsaddle and Jeanine Girton. Personal sheets were reviewed with changes made for the coming year. New Beta Books were purchased for the members and distributed by Glenna Melkus.

An installation of new officers was given to the following: Alice Clapsaddle, president; Merlene Baird, vice president; Margaret Larson, recording secretary; Marcia King, corresponding secretary; Glenna Melkus, treasurer; Patty Smith, extension officer. Perfect attendance awards were presented to Glenna Melkus, Merlene Baird, Wadonna King, Marcia King, and Patty Smith.

Wadonna King presented the program “Memories of Mother” with each member bringing a memento of their mother. Each member was presented a pink rose. Program of the year went to Merlene Baird and Margaret Larson. The 2019-20 theme for the year is “Power of the Dream.” 

The summer social will be announced at a later date and Beginning Day will be on Monday, Aug. 26 at the home of Alice Clapsaddle.
