Al Kroeker of Great Bend will celebrate his 100th birthday with a reception from 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Cherry Village, 1401 Cherry Lane in Great Bend. Hosts for the event will be his son Bob Kroeker of Overland Park and his daughter Sally O’Connor of Great Bend. The public is invited to attend. No gifts are requested.
Al was born on Nov. 6, 1917, in Newton. He grew up in Barton County. Serving in World War II, he was twice commander of Great Bend American Legion Post 180. He was married to his wife Eldeen for 67 years. She passed in 2008. Al was parts manager of Bell Engine Service for many years. In retirement he remained active in his church and became a talented artist whose paintings were featured in several exhibits and in the homes of his family and friends.
