Elma Laughlin Lepej will celebrate her 100th birthday on June 30, with a card shower. Friends are invited to visit with her from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on June 25, at Perkins in the Derrick Room.
Elma was born on June 30, 1916, in the LaCrosse area. She has a twin brother, the late Elmer Laughlin. On April 17, 1943, she married Joe Lepej. He died in 1988. She attended school in LaCrosse. She has a sister, Elizabeth Crowley Wilson of Chicago and a brother Judge William Laughlin of Kansas City. She has two daughters, Patti Lepej Smith and husband George of Malmo, Minn. and JoKay Lepej of Topeka; three grandchildren, S. Tyler Mermis and Melissa of Marion, Taryn Mermis Baca and Johnny of San Diego Calif. and Tierney Mermis and Aaron Suchy of Great Bend; seven great-grandchildren, Marshell Conley, Blaine Mermis, Bryce Mermis, Brynn Mermis, Hayley Suchy, Johnny Baca Jr., and Kamryn Baca.
