Elma Laughlin Lepej will celebrate her 99th birthday on June 30, with a card shower. Elma and her twin brother, Elmer Laughlin, were born on June 30, 1916, on a farm near Alexander. They attended school in LaCrosse. On April 17, 1943, she married Joe Lepej. Elma has been a resident of Great Bend since 1965. She has two daughters, Patti Smith and husband George of Great Bend and Jo Kay Lepej of Topeka;
three grandchildren, Tyler Mermis and wife Melissa of Marion, Taryn Mermis Baca and husband Johnny of San Diego, Calif, and Tierney Mermis and Aaron of Great Bend; and seven great-grandchildren, Marshelle Mermis, Blaine Mermis, Bryce Mermis, Brynn Mermis, Hayley Suchy,
Johnny Baca Jr. and Kamryn Baca.
