Elmer Maier of Russell will celebrate his 90th birthday with a Come and Go reception from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 22, at Meridy’s Restaurant in Russell. Hosts for the event will be his daughters, Twila Allen of Greensburg, Pauletta Scheck of Ellinwood and his son, Dana Maier of Greensburg, along with their families. Family and friends are invited celebrate the occasion with them.  
Elmer was born on Aug. 24, 1925, south of Gorham on the family farm where he still resides. He married Hilda (Funk) Maier. She passed away on Sept. 17, 2006. He has spent his entire lifetime farming, raising cattle and doing construction work. His hobbies include fishing and wood working.
