Opal A. (Butler) Weaver of Great Bend will celebrate her 97th birthday on Sept. 21 with a card shower. She was born on Sept. 21, 1913, in Crosses, Ark., to Ernest and Maggie Butler. The family later moved to Claflin where Opal met and married Lilburn P. Weaver. They remained married for 51 years until his death in 1988. They lived the majority of their married life in Holyrood. She has six children, JaNelda and Max Manor, Gene and Karen Grounds Weaver, Donna and Marvin Campbell, Oleta and Keith Beckwith, Carolyn and Terry Holland and Vicki and Gary Pillard; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
