Irv Gotsche of Great Bend will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception from 2-4 p.m. on Aug. 25 at River Bend Assisted Living, 3820 Broadway in Great Bend. 

Irv was born on Aug. 23, 1928, in Racine Wis., the son of Irving and Ethel Gotsche. He grew up in Racine, graduating in 1946 from high school. He joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. After serving in the military he graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Plattville. He retired in 1988 from NCRA where he was a Petroleum Engineer.

On Nov. 27, 1954, he married Jeanne in Salina. After short stints in Ellinwood and WaKeeney, the couple moved in 1965 to Great Bend, where they raised their four children, Pam Gavel of Kansas City, Mo., Kurt Gotsche of Wichita, Steve (Linda) Gotsche, Manhattan and Eric (Carol) Gotsche of Great Bend. The couple have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
