MARVEL UNIVERSE I would begin by saying Deadpool is a new and different kind of superhero, but that would in fact imply that he is super and a hero. So, instead Ill start with the fact that Deadpool is not your average Marvel movie. Theres some good and even more bad, and here is what you need to know before you think about hitting the theater to see it this weekend.

Who is Deadpool?

It all starts with Wade Wilson, the mercenary. Between the odd jobs of saving teenage girls from creepy stalkers and hanging out at a sketchy bar, Wade falls in love with a lovely lady friend (who, by the way, is paid for her time by other friends). Its twisted fairy tale story.

Life seems pretty good until he is diagnosed with terminal metastatic cancer. With nothing to lose, Wilson leaves his gal pal behind and agrees to an alternative and extreme treatment that leaves him terribly disfigured, but cures his cancer and gives him accelerated powers to heal. Thats when Wilson adopts the alter ego Deadpool.

Its unique and funny

Deadpool takes a different approach than the previous Marvel movies by continuously breaking the fourth wall. Deadpool narrates his own story to the audience and frequently pokes fun at the movie itself, not to mention the rest of the Marvel universe. Its an entertaining choice that pays off from the very beginning in the opening credits and works for the whole film.

Ryan Reynolds redeems himself from The Green Lantern disaster by raising his comedic game as the crass and cynical Deadpool. The rest of the cast holds their own with Reynolds, especially Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus and Briana Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Yes, you read that correctly Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

but absolutely terrible

While funny and a bit daring, Deadpool is chuck full of vulgarity and violence. The film is rated R for strong violence and language throughout, sexual content and graphic nudity. That just about covers the movies content in the simplest terms.

From mutilated bodies to vile language to disgusting sex jokes, its difficult to handle the intense, continuous onslaught. The moral of the story is that Deadpool has no morals. Its not worth the time or money for anyone to waste. If anyone is looking for that kind of entertainment, it can probably be found elsewhere for a much smaller price than a movie ticket.
