For an exciting roleplaying game experience, player characters need some sort of quest or adventure to undertake. The Pathfinder Roleplaying game offers adventure paths that create a continuous story arc, taking an adventurer from humble beginnings to legendary status. A great adventure is what propels the game forward.

The classic adventure path for Pathfinder is Rise of the Runelords. In this six-part story line, an attack by crazy goblins on the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint reveals clues that trouble is brewing. Upon further investigation, the adventurers embark on an incredible journey through the land of Varisia.

The plot of the adventure path deepens as the adventure group tries to stop a group of assassins, malicious ogres and eventually an army of stone giants intent on destruction. And for fans of traditional adventures, there is a "dungeon crawl" adventure that involves exploring the depths of a dark dungeon in search of some lost treasure and an unforgettable final battle in a mountain citadel with a powerful wizard-king.

A new anniversary edition of the adventure path Rise of the Runelords is available from Paizo Publishing that combines all six adventures into one hardbound book. Some of the content has been updated and some new content was even added, such as a deadly monster called the Lamia Harridan. This particular adventure path is a classic and contains something for every adventurer.

Another interesting adventure path called Reign of Winter was designed by the winner of an RPG contest held by Paizo Publishing, Neil Spicer. Published in 2013, the six-part adventure introduces the iconic fantasy witch Baba Yaga from Slavic folklore.

In the nation of Irrisen, Baba Yaga appears every 100 years to welcome a new ruler, but at the appointed time she doesnt come. To top it off, a portal to another world is discovered that is sending frigid weather into Irrisen. The quest is on with players trying to find out what happened to Baba Yaga by following clues and having grand adventures.

The adventure path even includes adventure encounters on Earth as players travel through time to Russia in 1918. As World War I rages in Europe, player characters head for an old monastery to find Baba Yaga while dodging bullets and 20th century artifacts. The adventure comes to a head in a battle against an evil witch queen named Elvanna to finally return Baba Yaga to her freedom.

In addition to adventure paths, the Pathfinder RPG also has full color maps and miniatures that bring the adventure stories to life. Paizo Publishing does an excellent job of bringing to the marketplace what gamers want: fantastic adventures.

Be aware that the Pathfinder roleplaying game contains fantasy artwork that may be of concern to some people, especially young readers. Artwork depicted is similar to other people, monsters and settings from fantasy literature and movies such as "The Hobbit" or "Lord of the Rings."
