Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Our summer program is in full swing; , Luna is back! From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, grab a book, sit down, and read to Luna, our pet partner reading dog. Reading time counts towards your summer reading goal, and you could win a National Geographic Kids Magazine subscription if you log the most time with Luna through the summer. Genealogy Corner will continue this summer at its regular 11 a.m. time every Thursday.

Friday we have games for teens and a movie for adults. At 2:30 p.m. get ready to battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Select a character from a roster of 82 characters to duke it out with other teens in up to 8-player chaotic battles on stages pulled from Nintendo’s vast history of games. That evening, adults can join us for a movie night out at 7 p.m. This month we will be showing a star-studded movie featuring Margo Robbie John David Washington and Christian Bale. Set in the 1930s and follows three friends who endure a life-altering turn of events. Burt, Valerie, and Harold witness a grisly murder, and the trio unwittingly find themselves as the prime suspects in the case, inspiring them to find the true murderer before they find themselves behind bars.

Monday is our first Genealogy Corner of the summer, Genetic Genealogy! Discover how DNA testing kits can be used to expand on your family tree. You might find family ties you never knew about. Join us at 5 pm to start expanding your family tree.

On Tuesday we are back with Campfire Story Time and Fireside Tween Scene at 10:30 a.m. and Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m. for all your techy needs. Wonderful Wednesdays continue with Frotlaned at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Fort Larned is coming to teach us about how Plains Indian tribes kept a tribal record with a Winter Count. Each winter a designated person would record one important event from the year onto a bison hide. The collection of events made up the tribe’s history. This program will relate the history of winter counts, and other forms of drawing, such as ledger art, and encourage participants to draw an important event in their life on a bison hide image.

Thursday we have more events for teens and adults in the evening. At 3:30 p.m. its Teen Manga and Anime Club time. This time we will be watching and discussing Delicious in Dungeon before we have a ramen noodle cook-off. Teens will pair ingredients with cooked ramen noodles before combining them into a (hopefully) delicious dish. The best ramen dish will win a special prize. Then that evening it’s Adult Craft Night at 6 pm! Try out cyanotype, and create botanical sun prints using light-sensitive paper.
