Laura Koster and Jeff Smith were united in marriage at a Nuptial Mass on June 12 at St. Rose Church in Great Bend, in a double-ring ceremony officiated by Father Reginald Urban, parish priest, Father Donald McCarthy, friend of the family, and the Rev. Michael Dean, uncle of the groom. Parents of the couple are Larry and Jane Koster of Great Bend and Bryan and Judy Smith of Fort Worth, Texas.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless satin A-line with chapel train dress. Beading on the dress matched the beading that outlined her finger-tip veil. Her bouquet consisted of calla lilies and daylilies made by Ron and Rose Hodgeson, friends of the bride.
Maid of honor was Karson Craig of Marion. Matron of honor was Alicia Enoch, of Vinegrove, Ky., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kelsey Gossett of Wichita, and Jessica Leiker, Kansas City. The matron of honor and the maid of honor wore tea-length black halter dresses with red sashes and peek-a-boo skirts. The bridesmaids wore red dresses with black sashes and peek-a-boo skirts.
Best man was Chris Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Chris Koster and Andrew Koster of Great Bend, brothers of the bride, and Matt Enoch, brother-in-law of the bride of Vinegrove, Ky. They also served as ushers.
The flower girl was Emma Koster, of Great Bend, niece of the bride. Ring bearer was Austin Vowinckel, of Glen Elder, cousin of the bride. Candle lighter and Mass server was Sheridan Koster of Jewell, cousin of the bride. Eucharistic ministers for the Mass were Geneva Winkel, of Glen Elder, grandmother of the bride, Brian Koster of Jewell, uncle of the bride, and Jane and Larry Koster, parents of the bride.
Attending the guest book was Dena McMannaman of Great Bend. Attendants at cake table were Nan Dean, Janice Vorster, Linda Mick, and Sherry Koster, all aunts of the bride and groom.
Pianist was Sierra Koster, cousin of the bride, of Jewell. Vocalists were Chris Koster and Alicia Enoch. Accompanist was Connie Schneweis of Great Bend. Cantor was Aidan Koster, Great Bend, sister-in-law of the bride.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Great Bend High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She is employed at the Prairie Village YMCA in Kansas City. She is currently working toward her master’s degree in physical education at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She is also a certified massage therapist.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Texas, and a 2008 graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Business Accounting and Business Administration and a Master of Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant with BKD Accounting firm in Kansas City.
The couple reside in Overland Park.
