Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a possible injury accident at 12:15 p.m. Monday on U.S. 281 at SE 40 Road, about 4 miles south of Great Bend. A 2011 Dodge Charger driven by Dalton C. Garrett, 21, Great Bend, was southbound behind a 2000 Ford Taurus driven by Dan T. Ly, 22, of Gorham. Ly stopped to make a left turn and was waiting for oncoming traffic when the Charger rear-ended the Taurus.
Neither driver was injured, but one of two passengers in the Taurus, 2-month-old James K. Ly of Gorham, was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital with possible injury. KHP notes he was properly restrained in a rear-facing child seat, and all of the adults were wearing seat belts.
