Barton offers Certified Medication Aide course as hybrid class

Barton Community College will offer a Certified Medication Aide hybrid course in Great Bend and Wilson, beginning Sept 12. Hybrid courses are delivered in the classroom through lecture and supplemented by online components. Students will spend time in the classroom and at a clinical site, and complete the remainder of their coursework online.

Class sessions will meet from 5-7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 12 through Oct. 10, in Barton’s Technical Building, T-115. Clinical site is Wilson Golden Living Center, 611 31st Street, in Wilson, with sessions from 5-10 p.m. on Mondays, Oct. 17 through Nov. 14. Instructor is Louise Masden.

Students must be Certified Nurse Aides to enroll and are required to complete a pre-registration process. Students must make pre-payment for the class prior to the first class session. The fee for Barton County residents is $475, which includes tuition, fees and the state exam fee. For non-county residents, the fee is $490. Textbook fees are additional. At the successful conclusion of training, students may take the state examination.

Students are required to participate in all classroom meetings and complete 37.5 hours of coursework online. In addition, students must have a valid e-mail address and meet minimum computer system requirements.
