The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will discuss next year’s operating budget and approve a proposed budget for publication when it meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in room F-30, on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building. A public budget hearing will be set for 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 2.
Thursday’s agenda also includes hiring new personnel; approval of efforts to create a certificate program in cattle production and revisions to the Associate of Applied Science degree in agribusiness; election of board officers; EduKan presentation; a monitoring report on expectations for the “Barton experience”; athletic insurance; revised meeting schedule; and an executive session for discussion of personnel matters.
The trustees will also meet with Emergency Medical Service representatives Greg Brockway, EMS chief of Salina Fire Department; Shelly Maze, director of Hoisington EMS; and Eugene Perkins, battalion chief of Great Bend Fire and EMS. Karyl White, director of emergency medical services education at BCC, will facilitate this presentation. Trustees periodically schedule “linkage” meetings with various groups for the purpose of feedback and education.
