Barton Community College has announced its new Computer Aided Drafting & Design 21-hour certificate program with classes beginning from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 5 through July 26.  Students who start coursework this summer can earn their certificate by as early as Spring 2013.
The certificate is intended to teach students how to design technical parts and equipment or begin a career in engineering or architectural drafting.
Completion of this certificate program provides opportunities to serve as a drafting trainee, detail drafter, layout drafter, design drafter, checker and technical illustrator. The national median wage in 2010 for such positions was $23.46 hourly, leading to an annual amount of $48,810.
Students will have access to cutting-edge technology and the latest AutoCAD software.  The instructor will be Jill Fitzsimmons.
