BCC trustees say no to guns on campus

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will review a plan to opt out of new Kansas law that allows conceal-carry weapons on campus. The board will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Seminar Room, F-30 of the Fine Arts Building, for its monthly study session. The board will vote at its next business meeting on whether to adopt the resolution to opt out of the new law for four years.
Other items on Thursday’s agenda are a financial report; property, liability and worker compensation insurance; capital projects update; plans for a Sept. 12 Chamber Coffee and ribbon cutting of the remodeled Fine Arts Auditorium; meeting with partners in education; review the college’s Emergency Succession Plan; board retreat; and board officers for Fiscal Year 2014.
