Robin Lee Branson, serving two life sentences for 1982 murders committed during liquor store robberies in Great Bend, has been denied parole. Branson was eligible for a hearing before the Kansas Prisoner Review Board in May, and public comments were accepted in April.
Branson, now 56, won’t have another parole hearing for four years; according to the Kansas Department of Corrections website, his earliest release date is now June 1, 2018.
Each month, the Prisoner Review Board holds public comment sessions concerning prisoners who are coming up for parole hearings. Although hearings are scheduled in June and July for a total of 43 offenders, no inmates with convictions in Barton or surrounding counties are on the list.
