Two people from Bazine were taken to the Ness County Hospital on Wednesday after a car struck another car making a U-turn on K-96, half a mile west of Bazine in Ness County.
Connie Jean Baker, 57, of Bazine was driving a westbound 1993 Pontiac at 7:10 a.m. and slowed to make a U-turn onto eastbound K-96. As she was making the turn, the Pontiac was hit by a westbound 1997 Volkswagen driven by Asael Alejandro Rivera-Santoyo, 19, of Bazine. He was not injured, but passenger Saul Benjamin Rivera, 17, did sustain injuries and was taken to the hospital, as was Baker. A third passenger in the Volkswagen, Samuel Rivera, 15, was not injured. Everyone was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
