A woman and child from Denver, Colo., were injured Friday morning on Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County when a car overturned. The accident occurred at 10:34 a.m., approximately 22 miles east of Russell.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports Rebecca R. Salley, 32, was driving west and dropped the left wheels of the 2002 Chevrolet off the left side of the roadway. She over-corrected and the car came back on the road and crossed both westbound lanes, then entered the north distch and turned broadside and rolled one and a half times, coming to rest on its top. The uninsured vehicle was towed.
The driver was flown to a Wichita hospital via air ambulance. Two-year-old Gabrielle C. Salley was taken to the Ellsworth hospital with undetermined injuries. Both were wearing safety restraints.
