Great Bend’s City Band concerts will move indoors in July, starting with a patriotic musical salute at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at the Crest Theater.
The concert leading into Independence Day/weekend festivities will feature patriotic selections with narration by Vern Fryberger, director of choral activities at Barton Community College. Veterans of the armed forces will be honored, and an elementary student will have the opportunity to direct the City Band by conducting John Philip Sousa’s, “The Stars And Stripes Forever.”  There will be a sign-up sheet at the door that night prior to the concert, and a name will be drawn from the entries.
There will also be concerts on July 10 and 15, with the jazz band joining the City Band at the July 15 concert.
All concerts are free and open to the public.
