Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday in a little different manner this year as the Great Bend High School Band will present “Hearin’ o’ the Green.”The Varsity, Junior Varsity and Jazz Bands will play some Irish tunes just to "bring out the leprechaun in you," at 7 p.m. in the GBHS gym.Jazz Band members will play the traditional Irish tune, Danny Boy, along with Clearwater and Embraceable You. Junior Varsity players will present Let Freedom Ring!, Majestia (from the shores of the Shamrock Isles), Ancient Ritual and Ceremony, Chant and Ritual.They will combine with the Varsity members for the concert finale song Air on an Irish March (The Minstrel Boy).The March from Second Suite in F, Chorale and Shaker Dance II, Celtic Suite and Rumble on the High Plains are selections to be played by the Varsity Band.The bands are directed by Mark DeWald and assisted by Shelby Huddleston and Kurtis Koch.The concert is free and everyone is invited.
