The Central Kansas Community Choir accompanied by the Barton Community College Orchestra will present a concert themed “On Broadway” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, at First United Methodist Church, 2123 Forest Ave., Great Bend. The group will perform substantial medleys from popular Broadway titles such as “Les Miserables” and “The Lion King,” as well as single selections from “Porgy and Bess,” the “Wizard of Oz” and more.
Barton Director of Chorale Activities Vern Fryberger and CKCC conductor said this is a great opportunity to experience high quality live music.
“It is a rare to hear a live orchestra and choir perform together in central Kansas,” he said. “It will be a very entertaining evening for all.”
Founded in the spring of 2003, the CKCC is sponsored by the college.  The non-denominational group performs a spring concert every other year, alternating with the production of Barton’s spring musical.  There are 40 members from all over central Kansas and they are joined by the Barton Concert Choir.
Admission is $5 and all proceeds are used to cover operating expenses.  For more information about the Central Kansas Community Choir, contact Fryberger at frybergerv@bartonccc.edu or 620-792-9395.
