The third annual Charity Chili Cook-off is set for Saturday, Nov. 3. Serving will start at 11 a.m. at two locations: along Main Street from 12th to 16th, and in the Westgate Shopping Center on K-96.
Thirteen entrants have already signed on to give chili lovers a chance to taste several delectable varieties, said Sarah Krom at Sunflower Diversified Services. With all proceeds going to the Food Bank as part of a Sunflower outreach to the community, Krom wants people to know, “there is still time to join in the fun as a cook.”
Tasting and the blind judging will begin at 11 a.m. The public is encouraged purchase a $5 taster bracelet, have a leisurely lunch and select the People’s Choice Chili 2012.
“Sunflower truly enjoys reaching out to central Kansans and showing our appreciation for all they do for people with developmental disabilities served by Sunflower,” Krom said. “The Food Bank can always use more community support. Participants in the chili cook-off will be able to take personal satisfaction in contributing to this worthy cause.”
Sunflower, a non-profit agency, serves babies, toddlers and adults with developmental disabilities in Barton, Pawnee, Rice, Rush and Stafford counties.
