An article in Sunday’s Great Bend Tribune explained how a student was able to complete her studies at Barton Community College with a clinical internship at Gautier Medical Clinic in Mississippi. This student, who was not named, was incorrectly identified as a nursing student. According to Leonard Bunselmeyer Jr., Barton’s executive director of health care and public safety education, the student mentioned is a medical assisting student, not a nursing student. Bunselmeyer noted Barton has a number of health-care programs, and many medical facilities throughout Kansas and beyond, that provide internships.
