“Wild West Theater” will be the topic at the next historical society meeting, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Barton County Historical Museum and Village.
Eric Coulbourne will lead the discussion of the Wild West theater days of vaudeville and variety shows. Coulbourne is the Great Bend Public Library Children’s Library director. He graduated from Kent State in northeast Ohio with a degree in theater and began his new career in Great Bend in 2010.
The program will be held in the Ray Schulz Library in the main museum. The program is free and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, said Beverly Komarek, executive director. Barton County Historical Museum and Village is located just south of the Arkansas River Bridge on U.S. 281.
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. It will be open from 1-5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 and 27. Starting Nov. 1, the museum begins its winter hours, which are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and by appointment. The telephone number is 620-793-5125.
