RUSSELL — With an opening reception on Sunday, Aug. 5, the Deines Cultural Center, 820 N. Main in Russell, is hosting the art collection of the late Art Priddy and beginning a silent auction for the items.
Nearly 100 pieces of art will be shown, including original paintings and prints, reproductions and a few Native American pieces. Some of the artists who are represented include Houston Saryerwinne, Trudy Furney, John Thorns, Michael Jilg, Charles Sanderson, Thomas Currey, J.R. Hamill, Craig Purdy, Grandma Fran, Ben Shahn, and Charles B. Rogers. An original E. Hubert Deines print and Art Priddy’s own original paintings are also included.
The items do not belong to the Center. Rather, they are from the estate of Priddy and have been consigned for sale at the Center.
Bidders may certainly bid more than once throughout the show and are welcome to come in or call the Deines Cultural Center to see what the current bid is and to raise their bid. The entire collection will be shown on the center’s website www.deinesculturalcenter.org,and bidder number requests can be made and bidding can also be done by e-mail at deinescenter@russellcity.org or by calling 785-483-3742.
At the end of the auction on Aug. 26, only the two highest bidders for each item will be called and a final bid-off will be conducted.
