The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host “Gardens For Our Varying Climate” from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. This free Stop ‘N Learn program will be presented by Alicia Boor, Barton County agriculture and natural resource agent.
Between the extreme heat and drought one year, and cooler temperatures and moisture the next, growing successful gardens in recent years has been tough, Boor said. She will show some plants that have done well in Kansas trials and how to best plant and care for them through the spring and summer.
