Christmas may just be over, but members of Great Bend Community Theatre are making plans for Valentine’s Day. Auditions for the next GBCT production, “Enchanted April” by Matthew Barber, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, and 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the Crest Theater. Performance dates are Feb. 14 - 17.
GBCT publicity director K.B. Bell said there are three roles for women in their 20s-40s, two roles for women in their 50s-70s, and three roles for men in their 20s-50s. The ages are somewhat flexible.
“Enchanted April” is described as a perfect Valentine’s show. Two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages.  In order to share the cost they recruit two very different women from different backgrounds. The Mediterranean sunshine works its magic and romance blooms along with the flowers as the women rediscover themselves.
No advance preparation is necessary for the audition session, Bell said. To check out a reading copy of the script or for other questions, contact the director, Karen Kline-Martin at kkline-martin@usd355.org or by telephone at 620-564-2503.  E-mail may also be sent to GBCT at gbct.crest@gmail.com.
