Donna Krug, Family and Consumer Science agent at the Barton County Extension, will present the program "Sugar — More Than Just a Sweetener," at 1 p.m. Friday at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. "Sugar serves many purposes in our foods," Krug said. "In many cases, artificial sweeteners are used to replace sugar. However, these sweeteners do not have the ability to replace all the roles sugar plays in the chemical reactions in foods."
