Learn birdwatching basics at evening program

ST. JOHN — Ida Long Goodman Memorial Library, 406 North Monroe, St. John, will host a Quivira National Wildlife Refuge program, "Introduction to Birds and Birdwatching," from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24. The presenter, Barry Jones, visitor services specialist at Quivira NWR, will intended for the beginner or less-experienced birdwatcher. He will share 10 steps to easier birding, followed by a presentaiton on common birds and bird groups of Quivira and the surrounding area. There will be samples of bird field guidebooks and optical aids.
