The Great Bend Police Department is investigating a local man’s report that he was hit in the head and knocked unconscious Tuesday in the area of 10th and Kansas.

Lt. Bill Browne said the victim was allegedly attacked around 7:15 p.m. and contacted law enforcement about 30 minutes later from a private residence.

"He was riding a bike," Brown said. The man said he didn’t get a good look at who hit him or what the purported weapon was, although it may have been a bat or a bar. "He fell to the ground and was unconscious for a bit." However, Browne said, there was no visible wound and he did not immediately seek medical treatment.
