The Great Bend Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred the afternoon of March 2, but was not reported.
According to Police Chief Dean Akings, the victim is a Hispanic man who was sitting in a car in the 2400 block of Sixth St. at 3:45 p.m. when he was approached by another male.
“The male suspect told the victim he was going to take his car. The victim said ‘no you’re not.’ The suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim,” Akings said in a statement for Crime Stoppers. “The victim did not report this or get medical attention. A red SUV and a gun-metal gray vehicle were seen leaving the scene, and possibly saw the shooter.”
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers to leave an anonymous tip. The telephone number is 793-1300 or 888-305-1300 for toll-free calls outside of Great Bend.
