The Great Bend Recreation Commission has a few programs for those days school is not in session over the holidays. Students can meet their friends at the Activity Center for some fun on Monday, Dec. 23 and/or Monday, Dec. 30. Each day will include crafts, games, snacks, bowling at Walnut Bowl and fun organized activities. Amber Koch, Great Bend-Brit Spaugh Zoo education coordinator, will present an animal and activities on Dec. 30. GBRC will provide pizza on the 23rd and sub sandwiches on the 30th, along with beverages for lunch.
Then on Friday, Jan. 3, GBRC will offer an American Red Cross Baby-sitters Training from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Great Bend Recreation Center, located at 1214 Stone St. This Red Cross course gives participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants through school-aged children. This class is open for children ages 11-15.
The deadline to register for any of these programs is this Thursday, Dec. 19, through the Recreation Commission office at 1214 Stone St. For more information call 793-3755 ext. 2 or send email to recreation@gbrc.kscoxmail.com.
