Three people were transported to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington on Sunday after two pickups collided at 9:40 a.m. at NE 160 Road and NE 100 Ave.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports that Gerald Donovan, 73, of Hoisington was eastbound on NE 160 Road, driving a Chevrolet Silverado 1500. A Ford F-150 driven by Mathew Lamatsch, 30, of El Dorado, was northbound on NE 100 Ave. and struck the other vehicle in the intersection, causing it to roll onto its side in the northeast ditch. Donovan and Lamatsch were both extracted from their vehicles by Claflin Fire Department/EMS and transported to the hospital by Hoisington EMS. Passenger Carol Lamatsch, 68, of Claflin was also transported to the hospital. The Lamatsch vehicle was also carrying Jeanine Lamatsch, 30, a 3-month-old and a 2-year-old passenger. They were not injured and the children were released to their mother on scene.
The report shows Donovan was the only person not wearing a seat belt.
